Act Write Direct Workshops, (formerly known as A Working Relationship or AWR) is a community for professional directors, writers and actors to network, workshop original material and do scene work in a fun high-energy environment. This is not another class or networking event with false promises, it’s an opportunity to “practice” and learn the craft of acting and directing in a safe space without the pressures of production. It is also an invitation to join a growing community of pre-screened working professionals who desire to create collaborative relationships, be exposed to new talent, develop original scripts and work in an accelerated hands-on learning environment.
Directors and actors collaborate in the analysis, rehearsal, writing, performance and/or shooting of scenes. The primary focus is on the development of original scene work, relationships and communication between actors and directors.
In four short years of showcases and workshops, Act Write Direct Workshops has several hundred satisfied alumni who are often returning students, often referring other students. We have grown exclusively by word of mouth. Besides our workshops and online community, we also offer private coaching, script development and young adult classes.

A little more love…
Loooooooved this workshop series!!! What a blast. I highly encourage beginning and advanced filmmakers and acting students to give it a go. Instructor was fun and passionate. Class size was perfect. And I landed two parts in indie films because of the connections I made at Act Write Direct.
— Dana, Santa Monica, CAI shot 3 different scenes with really great directors because of this acting class. Really happy with the experience and plan on signing up for the next round. Thanks!
— Edgar Cortez, Santa Monica, CAReally enjoyed this past workshop! I finally finished my screenplay thanks to the support I received at Act Write Direct Workshops and plan on shooting this fall. Thanks to Karine and the rest of the class for giving me so much confidence moving forward. Highly reccommend!
— Sarah Wilson, Beverly HillsI've been acting for the last 10 years and never felt so excited and hopeful about my career as I did during the AWD workshops. I also wrote and directed for the first time and am excited to start to develop my screenplay idea. By far one of the best scene study classes I ever participated in, especially because we were on camera, and got to network with actors and directors.
